Uttar Pradesh staggering in darkness....light to come

Hurray ! Finally poor Hindu Indians will be shown light !

India (MNN) ― After hearing story after story of church growth in India, it's easy to start believing that everyone in the country has access to a church--and certainly to the Word. India's a big country though, and although the Lord has undoubtedly been moving, there is still a vast field to harvest.
According to Operation World, the state of Uttar Pradesh in India is one of the least-evangelized places in the world. Operation World experts say, "This single state of India probably represents the most intense concentration of unevangelized people and groups in the world, and thereby the greatest mission challenge."
A recent census says 579 of the state's 613 people groups have no Christians at all.
The church in the state of Punjab in India is growing a little faster. 60 percent of people in the state still follow the Sikhism, but believers are growing in number. One Bibles for the World missionary recently reported baptizing over 100 new believers across Punjab in 2010.
Church growth is encouraging in Punjab, but still the majority of people are not following Christ.

Each state of India has its unique challenges, but Bibles for the World has taken up the plights of these two for now. In response to the darkness covering Uttar Pradesh and the need in Punjab, Bibles for the World is preparing to print 1.2 million copies of the Gospel of John in Punjabi and Hindi in 2011. The Word will be distributed across Punjab and Uttar Pradesh.
Bibles for the World invites you to join them in this exciting effort to plant the seed of God's Word in these two states this year. Your financial and prayer support are most welcome. If you feel God calling you to be a financial part of this transformative year, click here.

Pray that these Gospels would reach the hearts of millions across the two states. Pray especially for Uttar Pradesh, that the number of people groups without believers would drop significantly in 2011, and that the powerful light of Christ would shine brightly across the entire nation.

Hindus should be ashamed of their-selves for not being able to stop evangelists from converting their 'own' poor and uneducated Hindu brothers and sisters by means of force/deception/enticement.

Islamic conquest of India, bloodiest in the history of World.

Most Bharatiyas(Indians) are either presented tone down/doctored version (by ruling political elite) of real history or have blissfully chose to ignore it. A history of incessant, barbaric invasions of erstwhile Bharat(India) made of small Hindu states by massive Arabic/Islamic armies amounting to unaccountable slavery, plundering and death toll for astounding 1000 years. A history in which Gujarat, Punjab and Rajasthan stood(still are) as first line of defense for larger Bharatiya subcontinent. History and Geography together explains why Hinduism has been maintained in its true traditions on Southern Bharat and declined to an extent in Northen/Western Bharat. A culture, society, land, religion that has withstood world's worst onslaught from another culture/religion is sadly unknown to most.

These videos provides an inkling why in present Bharat also it does not require a maverick or Pundit to polarize electorate with religious whipping. That being said, they are shared here for insight in to our history. There are hidden/unacknowledged fissures in our society in which millennia old animosity dwells, ferments & translates in to communal violence from time to time. As a heads up, these may not be fun watch videos,as truth never can be. Lastly, if you are interested in detailed reading, please refer to this link.

Gatka - Sikh Martial arts

Having watched almost every Jackie Chan movie in childhood, its no wonder that fascination with action movies still continues. After all these years of watching these movies, the question lingers in mind is that do we not have Indian forms/techniques of martial arts that are equally lethal and awe-inspiring as Kung-Fu or Karate? Well, thankfully the answer is YES! (You aren't first one to be surprised!) Our school curriculum that has trite explanation about our country's diversity should have taught us about these various fighting techniques/art that has been preserved over centuries in many parts of our country. As a matter of fact researched material suggests Chinese martial arts is in all likelyhood derivation of these old Bharatiya (carefully avoiding saying Indian) traditions. These traditions include art of fighting using lethal weapons such as swords and bows, hand to hand combat and self-defence with wooden sticks. If you truly have passion for combat techniques,self-defence methods or simply interest in exploring more, by now you are curious to read the names of these Bharatiya martial arts techniques. "Thang-Ta", "Gatka", and "kalarippayattu" are some of the methods among many and more popularly practised even today. These methods come from the states of Manipur, Punjab and Kerala respectively. You all can now explore more about all these methods and in general about Indian Martial Arts starting with this link. But, before you go, do check out this video below which briefly introduces Gatka. We need strong people that makes our country strong. Perhaps one of us should suggest progressive CM like Mr. Narendra Modi to instate such physical education in schools.(Brought up Mr. Modi here since he is credited with bringing game of Chess in to every classroom of schools of Gujarat)
