ભારતના સર્વાધિક ઊંચા શિખર-રત્નો

શું તમે જાણો છો કે દુનિયાના ૪૫ સૌથી ઊંચા શિખરો પાકિસ્તાન અધિકૃત કાશ્મીરમાં આવેલા છે?  આજે વાત કરશું ભારતના ૧૨ સર્વાધિક ઊંચા શિખરોની કે જે દુનિયાના ૧૦૦ સૌથી ઊંચા શિખરોની યાદીમાં શામેલ છે. સ્વાભાવિક છે કે આ બધાં જ ઉત્તર અથવા ઇશાન ભારતમાં સદૈવ સુશોભિત અને દૈદીપ્યમાન એવા હિમાલયની વિશાળ પહાડોની શૃંખલાનો હિસ્સો છે જે હરહમેંશ બરફાચ્છાદિત રહે છે.

કંચન જંઘાના ૫ શિખરો.

નીચેની યાદી ભારતના સૌથી ઊંચા શિખરથી ઉતરતા ક્રમમાં છે અને સાથે સાથે કૌંસમાં દુનિયાભરમાં તેની ઊંચાઈનો ક્રમ આપેલ છે. 

૧) કાંચન-જંઘા - (૨૮,૧૬૯ ફૂટ, ૮૫૮૬ મી.) (દુનિયાભરમાં ત્રીજો)


કાંચન-જંઘા ભારતના સિક્કીમ રાજ્યના  ઉત્તર છેવાડે નેપાળ સાથેની આંતરાષ્ટ્રીય સીમા પર આવેલ છે. કાંચન-જંઘા એ પાંચ ટોચ/શિખરોનો સમૂહ છે અને ત્યાંની સ્થાનિક ભાષામાં તેના નામનો અર્થ "બરફમાં પાંચ ખજાના" એવો થાય છે. આ પાંચ ખજાના એટલે જ આ પાંચ શિખરો. આમાંના ૩ શિખરો(મુખ્ય,વચલું અને દક્ષિણી) ભારતની હદમાં આવેલ છે. જયારે બાકીના બે નેપાળમાં આવેલ છે. અમુક લોકો તે વિસ્તારમાંથી મળી આવતા સોનું, ચાંદી, રત્નો( હીરા-માણેક વગેરે ), ધાન અને પવિત્ર ધાર્મિક પુસ્તકોને એ પાંચ ખજાના તરીકે ગણાવે છે. આ પહાડોની આયુ આશરે ૪૪,૫૦,૦૦,૦૦૦ થી ૧ અબજ વર્ષની વચ્ચે આંકવામાં આવે છે!!

2) નંદા દેવી ( ૨૫,૬૬૩ ફૂટ, ૭૮૨૪ મી) (દુનિયાભરમાં ૨૩મું)
ભલે આમ ભારતમાં નંદા દેવી બીજું સૌથી ઊંચું શિખર છે, અમુક લોકો તેને સૌથી ઊંચું શિખર માને છે. કારણ એમ છે કે આ પર્વતમાળા પૂરેપૂરી ભારતની હદમાં આવેલી છે. ઇસ ૧૮૫૨માં પશ્ચિમી શોધખોળકારોની નેપાળના ધોઉલાગીરી શિખરની શોધ સુધી નંદા દેવી દુનિયાનું સૌથી ઊંચું શિખર મનાતું હતું



૩) કામેત (૨૫,૪૪૬ ફૂટ,૭૭૫૬ મી) (દુનિયાભરમાં ૨૯મું)
ઉત્તરાખંડના ચમોલી જીલ્લાના ગઢવાલ ક્ષેત્રમાં આવેલું કામેત ભારતનું હાલમાં ત્રીજું ઉત્તુંગ શિખર છે. 




૪) સાસેર કાંગરી-૧ ( ૨૫,૧૭૧ ફૂટ, ૭૬૭૨ મી) (દુનિયાભરમાં ૩૫મું)
જમ્મુ કાશ્મીરની હદમાં આવેલ સાસેર કાંગરીનું સ્થાન ભારતમાં ચોથું છે. આ શિખર કારાકોરમ હારમાળામાં આવેલ છે. આ શિખર સર કરવું ખૂબ કપરું ગણાય છે. બીજા દુનિયામાં જાણીતા શિખરોની સરખામણીએ આ શિખર હજી ૧૯૭૩માં જ પહેલી વાર ITBP (Indo-Tibetian Border Police)ના જથ્થાએ સર કર્યું હતું. ત્યાર બાદ ૧૯૮૭માં ભારત અને બ્રિટનની સંયુક્ત ટુકડીએ આ શિખરનું પશ્ચિમ બાજુએથી સફળતાપૂર્વક આરોહણ કર્યું હતું.

Followers of this blog know well that its often via videos I share my views. Given my fondness to our heaven Kashmir this video in particular has been long on my mind. I feel apologetic for not being able to share with you so far. We Hindus have just one nation in the world which we can call "ours" and yet within this only nation of ours we fail to pay attention to issues of our own Hindu brothers and sisters. Compare that to Jews or Muslims. Remember during 26/11 Mumbai attack Israel's Government strongly insisted to help Indian Govt to kill terrorists, just so that they can save 6 Jew lives.(Strategically empty headed Congress run Govt of India refused to accept help is another story) Remember how ethnic riots related simple questioning of Muslims in China's Urumqi drew ire of Turkish and other Muslim nations ? Compare that to our response to misery and devastation of Kashmiri Hindus, who are considered the most revered Brahmin clan per our Hindu scriptures. Honestly speaking to some degree I detest our previous Hindu generation for failing to rise to the occasion of protecting them from the onslaught of Islamic fundamentalism and terrorism. If I put it bluntly, I detest them for their cowardliness. Inciting passions in the name of "Shri Ram" or Ram temple was not real bravery. Saying let's go to Kashmir and save our Hindu brothers and sisters would have been the right call then.

And they say Kashmir belongs to them

An ingenious example of speech and politics occurred recently in the United Nations Assembly that made the world community smile.

A representative from India began: 'Before beginning my talk I want to tell you something about Rishi(sage) Kashyap of Kashmir, after whom Kashmir is named. When he struck a rock and it brought forth water, he thought, 'What a good opportunity to have a bath.' He removed his clothes, put them aside on the rock and entered the water. When he got out and wanted to dress, his clothes had vanished. A Pakistani had stolen them.'

The Pakistani representative jumped up furiously and shouted, 'What are you talking about? The Pakistanis weren't there then.'

The Indian representative smiled and said, 'And now that you have made that clear, I will begin my speech. 'And they say Kashmir belongs to them. :)'

China hype in media

"Red Peril", "Dragon breathing Fire", these are some of the recent headlines showing tensions between India and China in Himalayan border region due to disputed border. Well,it must be thought in retrospection. If you think carefully, the hype in media underlines the psyche of Indian people who has come out of oppression, slavery and captivity only before 62 years. We Indians are paranoid about not falling victim to another cruel regime like the British Empire. It is rather a good thing that we are so much concerned about the every possible threat to our nation and we are bringing such issues to public debate by means of media. But the hype and discussion should not scare people nor should it create a notion that we cannot defend ourselves against Chinese communist regime. Do not forget we are the people who fought the British without a single gun and forced them to vacate our beloved nation. Today we are a nuclear power with 1.1 billion people willing to defend their freedom. China has no recent war experience which is very important for any Army. We have Kargil experience to our advantage. China can NOT defeat us just with their numerical edge in military equipments and manpower. Just to get an idea how seriously Indian Army is preparing to counter the border violations by Chinese, take a look at this video...And rest assured our mother-nation is safe and well-protected. Let those commies come, we are a big country. we have enough space to dig their graves.
